My story
I’m Katy, the founder of Grove and Green. My journey to flower farming and floristry started long ago although I didn’t realise it at the time. I was lucky enough to grow up on an organic dairy farm with a Mum and Grandma who loved their gardens and growing beautiful flowers that would often creep into their homes. This definitely made me develop a love for flowers although I never dreamt it would become a career.
After a short stint in financial services, I myself became a farmer after my Dad died. Using organic, regenerative principles to grow grass and crops to produce milk I developed a passion for sustainability that has continued to develop and now crossed over into the world of cut flowers.
In 2019, I snipped some blooms from the peony and wallflower outside my back door. I took them to my Dad and Grandparents grave and it gave me so much more joy than ever I’d felt with the normal supermarket flowers. When all you can give someone on their birthday, at Christmas on special anniversaries is flowers, they have a whole new meaning. To take seasonal flowers they’d have seen blooming around them throughout their lives whilst cutting out the flower miles and plastic packaging was so much more satisfying.
I started rooting around the garden for more flowers to cut and this opened the floodgates to sowing seeds, planting tubers, making my own wreaths and learning all about floristry free from floral foam. When the farm was sold in 2023, I knew this was a passion I wanted to dive into, so here I am!
What I offer
All my flowers and floristry offerings are grown and made with sustainability at heart following organic and regenerative principles with no floral foam, minimising plastic use and looking for natural alternatives where I can.
I open for pick your own through the summer months with a seasonal variety of beautiful blooms available from sweet peas, snapdragons, cosmos, dahlia, the list is endless.
To further this experience, I run a selection of workshops where you can learn how to transform the flowers you cut into fabulous arrangements, hand tied bouquets, flower crowns and not forgetting seasonal wreaths.
I supply bouquets, sympathy flowers and a variety of options for weddings and events.
I also grow for florists and welcome wholesale enquiries.
